At approximately 2:20 p.m. on August 20, 2026, Prince George RCMP was advised that a small plane had made an emergency landing on Foothills Boulevard, about 1.5 kilometres north of North Nechako Road.

Once at the location, police determined that two vehicles were also involved. Police are saddened to confirm that there has been one fatality in this incident, an occupant of one of the vehicles. Any potential injuries to the other vehicle occupants as well as those on board the plane are currently unknown.

“Investigators would like to remind the public that this is an active investigation and that they need to stay away from the area. It removes valuable police resources from this investigation as well as the regular calls for service if RCMP must station police officers at every access point to Foothills Boulevard to keep the curious onlookers away, of which there have already been too many. Please allow room for our first responders to work safely,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer

Foothills Boulevard has been closed to vehicle traffic in both directions and will remain that way overnight and into Friday; drivers should make plans to use alternate routes in the meantime.

The Transportation Safety Board will be assuming conduct of this investigation.

Just before 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the Problem Oriented Policing (POP) team conducted a traffic stop with an illegally parked sedan on the 200-block of George Street. One of the occupants of the vehicle, who is known to police, was in the process of exiting the vehicle when he made a sudden motion to re-enter the vehicle.

Both occupants of the vehicle were subsequently arrested. No injuries were sustained by either the suspects or the police.

A search of the vehicle after the arrest yielded over 25 grams of suspected fentanyl and more than four grams of suspected co***ne, and several weapons. Additionally, over $1300 in cash was found in the man’s pocket when searched.

“This seizure is significant in light of the recent increase of overdose reports in the downtown area,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for Prince George RCMP.

The man and woman were released pending the laboratory confirmation of the suspected illicit drugs and future charge approval by the Public Prosecution Service of Canada.

This investigation remains ongoing.

Prince George RCMP frontline police officers are currently looking to identify any witnesses to a hit and run incident that took place on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Sinclair Road near Sinclair Park. A group of youth were walking along the shoulder of the road when one was allegedly struck by a slowly passing vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene and continued northbound on Lansdowne Road.

“Thankfully, the 9-year-old youth was not seriously harmed in this incident. The victim has stated there may have been another driver in the area that caught the incident on their cell phone, and we are hopeful that person will come forward with their video footage for our investigators,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for Prince George RCMP.

The vehicle is described as:
🔵White Ford Escape
🔵May have a 1.5” diagonal scratch on the front right passenger side of the vehicle

The driver is described as:
🔵Caucasian female
🔵Believed to be in her 60s
🔵Thin to medium build
🔵Long grey hair
🔵Wearing a white pattern polka dot shirt and a silver necklace with a butterfly at the time of the incident

If anyone witnessed the incident or knows who the driver of the vehicle may be, they are encouraged to speak with a police officer by calling the Prince Geroge RCMP non-emergency line at 250-561-3300.
