🎬 Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul filmed Dual in Tampere, Finland – and quickly fell in love with the country’s beauty, warmth and saunas. 🇫🇮

“I’m a huge sauna guy and that’s the birthplace of sauna,” he told Forbes. “When I checked into the hotel, a lot of the rooms have their own sauna... it’s just a very normal thing.”

Filmed over six weeks during the pandemic, Dual was backed by XYZ Films and supported by Business Finland and Film Tampere.

The production chose Finland for its safety, skilled crews and smooth collaboration on set – proving once again why filmmakers love working here.

For the cast, Finland’s structured and balanced production style was a welcome change from the usual Hollywood grind. “All four of the principal cast stressed to me that they would definitely work in Finland again if the opportunity presented itself,” said producer Aram Tertzakian.

Directed by Jorma Taccone and produced by XYZ Films, The Trip is the LA studio’s third Finnish production in four years – and a glowing showcase of Tampere’s cinematic charm.

DYK that Finland has just been named one of Lonely Planet’s 25 Best Destinations for 2026? Now you do! 🤩

Finland was chosen for 'finding happiness in wild places' – where nature isn’t just scenery, it’s a way of life.

Alongside the vibrancy and history evident in cities such as Helsinki, Turku, Tampere and Oulu, Lonely Planet underlined a variety of outdoor experiences to be embraced.

These include basking in the summer glow of the Lakeland district, venturing north to Lapland to see the northern lights or exploring Sámi culture and reindeer-herding traditions in Inari.

🎬 Turku is on a roll.

The international action thriller "Tears of the Wolf" is now filming in Finland’s southwest – with dramatic scenes shot in Turku and on the island of Örö.

What drew the crew? Golden autumn light and stunning natural backdrops.

With over €2 million flowing into the local economy, half the crew hired locally, and 1,000+ overnight stays booked – this is more than just movie magic.

“Film is the best cultural export,” said Teija Raninen of the Western Finland Film Commission. “The Turku archipelago and historic city are seen around the world.”

And this isn’t a one-off. "What Remains", starring Stellan Skarsgård, also filmed in the region in recent years – and more international productions are lined up for 2026.

Variety shouts out Finnish zombie comedy "Pigtown" – after it won big in Helsinki.

Bloodthirsty pigs, a bingo bloodbath, and a rural romance gone wrong?

The wild directorial debut from Finland’s Pekka Ollula took home the top Nordic project prize at Finnish Film Affair, with Variety calling it “a rural genre mash-up like no other.”

Think "Shaun of the Dead" meets "Aliens"… with pigs.
