Concluding its activities in the Bono East Region, the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) met with local business owners, traditional authorities, and political representatives during the Regional Investment Forum, part of its ongoing Regional Investment Roadshow.
Speaking at the event, the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, highlighted the government's drive to build a self-reliant economy led by the private sector, emphasizing that this work begins in Bono East. He noted that the region’s strategic central location creates strong trade opportunities with its neighbors, urging leaders to support local enterprise and unlock the region's economic potential.
Representing the Techiman Traditional Council, the Benkumhene, Nana Okogyeaman Kesse Basahyia IV, acknowledged that as a younger region, Bono East must focus on growing its economy and workforce. He pledged the traditional authority's full support to guide and assist investment efforts.
GIPA Deputy CEO A. Razak Baba explained that the goal is not to compete with major economic hubs like Greater Accra or the Western Region, but to replicate their successes in Bono East. Pointing to the area's rich resources, he noted that Bono East and surrounding areas produce roughly 70% of Ghana’s cashew crop, making local processing plants a prime opportunity for investors.
The forum ended with project pitches and an open Q&A session to address concerns from participants.
