Strengthening Institutional Awareness on New Labour Codes.

Today, an interactive awareness session on the Labour Codes was organized at NHIDCL HQ, New Delhi, along with all Regional Offices of NHIDCL with Sh. Kumar Amritesh, CLS, Regional Labour Commissioner (C), New Delhi. The session aimed to enhance awareness amongst NHIDCL officers regarding the salient features of Labour Laws, Code on Wages 2019, Industrial Relations Code 2020, Code on Social Security 2020 etc. and related statutory compliances.

The discussions focused on implementation, applicability, and compliance aspects of the evolving labour framework, reinforcing transparent governance and institutional preparedness. Officers from Technical, Finance, HR, and Administration divisions participated in the session, while Regional Offices of NHIDCL joined virtually through VC. Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari, today participated in national level workshop titled “Landslide Mitigation Measures for Resilient Hill Roads" organized by National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), under Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The event brought together leading international and national domain experts from government, academia, and industry to address the critical challenges of ensuring safe and sustainable road connectivity across India’s hilly regions.

In his special address, Shri Nitin Gadkari emphasized the government's unwavering commitment to building stronger, safer, and future-ready roads. He highlighted the importance of visionary leadership in driving the nation’s infrastructure growth, particularly in strategically vital and ecologically sensitive areas.
The inaugural session was also attended by:

The workshop showcased various innovative technology interventions currently being implemented across the country:
• Advanced Materials: The use of Geo-synthetics in states like Nagaland and Sikkim, Waste Plastic roads in Manipur, and Cement Treated Bases (CTB) across the North-Eastern Region (NER).
• Modern Construction: Adoption of Modular Bridges in Manipur and Ultra High Concrete to enhance durability and reduce costs.
• Spatial Technology: Integration of Drone-based LiDAR for 3D monitoring and Satellite-based Remote Sensing for macro-level hazard mapping and landslide-prone zone identification.

The workshop featured technical presentations from domain experts from premier institutions IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee and representatives from Geobrugg, Maccaferri, Techfab, and THDCIL, focusing on cost-effective long-term remedial measures and predictive risk monitoring. The Sessions emphasized global certifications, numerical modelling of rainfall-induced instabilities, quality control in slope protection.

The workshop concluded with a call for a pragmatic approach to contract administration and the adoption of specialized preventive slope protection mechanisms. Experts agreed that resilient hill infrastructure demands deeper investigations, hazard mapping at the project preparation stage, and continuous skill development for the workforce.

TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Initiative

As part of the Government of India’s 100 Days intensive and focused campaign towards TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, NHIDCL organized a Ni-Kshay Shivir in collaboration with the National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, New Delhi, for TB screening of its employees at the Headquarters.

On 27th April 2026, an Ayushman Arogya Shivir (TB Screening Camp) was conducted at the NHIDCL Cafeteria, NHIDCL, HQ encouraging early detection and awareness among officers and staff.

This initiative reflects NHIDCL’s commitment towards promoting health, well-being, and contributing to the vision of a TB-free India. Active participation from employees reinforces our collective responsibility in building a healthier nation.

Advancing Corridor Continuity in South Sikkim

National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), is implementing the Ravangla–Legship Road Project (NH-510), Package-IV, strengthening a critical link in Sikkim’s hill highway network.

The project focuses on upgrading the existing mountainous corridor to improve road geometry, safety, and riding comfort while ensuring seamless continuity of the NH-510 corridor. Designed to enhance all-weather connectivity, the road will support smoother movement of people, goods, and services across South and West Sikkim.

Progressing in a planned and systematic manner, the project is expected to play a key role in boosting regional mobility, tourism, and socio-economic development.

Transforming Tripura’s Road Network

National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), is undertaking the Improvement and Widening to Two Lanes with Paved Shoulder from existing Km 438.170 (Khowai Chowmuhani) to Km 439.410 (South Pulinpur) of NH-08, and from design Km 0.000 to Km 36.000 (Rangamati) of NH-208, forming part of the Khowai–Teliamura–Harina corridor.

Covering a total length of 37.24 km, the project is being executed on EPC mode under JICA ODA Loan Phase-VI (Package-II).

The upgraded corridor will improve riding quality, road safety, and all-weather connectivity across central Tripura.

A Historic Milestone for Northeast Connectivity.

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the 167 km Shillong–Silchar High-Speed Greenfield Corridor with a total project cost of Rs. 22,864 Crore, a transformative highway project by NHIDCL under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.

The corridor would ensure improved connectivity of Tripura, Manipur, and Mizoram with Meghalaya and Barak Valley, Silchar.

The project will reduce travel time, enhance logistics efficiency, promote tourism, and create new opportunities for businesses, industries, and communities throughout the region, thereby boosting economic integration across the Northeast.

With world-class highway infrastructure, the Northeast continues to move toward a faster, stronger, and more connected future.

Meeting with Sh. Prestone Tynsong, Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya

During his visit to Shillong, Dr. Krishan Kumar, MD, NHIDCL, met with Sh. Prestone Tynsong, Deputy Chief Minister, Meghalaya who also holds charge of Public Works Department (R&B). The meeting focused on reviewing the progress of NHIDCL’s ongoing highway and infrastructure projects in the state.

Discussions centred on strengthening road connectivity, addressing key project-level challenges, and enhancing coordination between the Government of Meghalaya and NHIDCL to ensure timely implementation. The interaction reaffirmed the shared commitment to accelerating infrastructure development and improving connectivity across Meghalaya.
