The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) expressed its support for the continued growth of Philippine cinema as the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival 2026 recently unveiled the 26 participating films in a press briefing on Thursday, 17 September 2026.

Represented by MTRCB Board Member Wilma Galvante, the Agency joined fellow enthusiasts and supporters of the film industry in film enthusiasts in celebrating the creativity, passion, and unique voices of both established and emerging Filipino filmmakers and student directors.

As the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival runs from September 23 to October 4 in select cinemas, let us appreciate Filipino stories, support homegrown filmmakers, and embrace responsible and meaningful media consumption. Here’s to celebrating the talent and artistry that make Philippine cinema truly our own!

Strengthening Families Through Gender and Development (GAD) and the PROTECT Framework

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) conducted its Gender and Development (GAD) and P.R.O.T.E.C.T. Seminar on Sunday, 20 September 2026 in the City of Sta. Rosa, Laguna for MTRCB employees, officials, and their families. Anchored on the theme “Building Safe, Informed, and Responsible Families,” the activity highlighted the important role of the family in teaching respect, responsibility, and positive values.

The GAD and Responsableng Panonood sessions emphasized that building a culture of respect, equality, and responsible media consumption begins at home. Families were encouraged to actively guide, educate, and engage their children in teaching them safe, informed, and responsible viewing.

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB)’s proposed budget for 2027 hurdled the plenary deliberations of the House of Representatives on Thursday, 17 September 2026, with lawmakers expressing full support for its funding and modernization.

Led by MTRCB Chair and CEO Lala Sotto, the Agency’s key officials attended the lower chamber’s plenary discussions on next year’s spending plan, which was sponsored by Leyte 2nd District Rep. Lo**ta Javier.

Sotto thanked the legislators for their support and trust in the Agency’s implementation of age-appropriate classifications of films and TV shows and the Responsableng Panonood program. She also expressed the MTRCB’s readiness to take on more responsibilities should Congress decide to expand its mandate to include online streaming platforms.
