A prototype 𝗨𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘇𝗲𝗿 has been developed under the 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 of the project 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗧𝗜 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀, in collaboration with GIKI .

صوبائی وزیر شفیع جان کو ڈائریکٹر جنرل سائنس اینڈ ٹیکنالوجی ساجد حسین شاہ نے ادارے کے جاری اور نئے منصوبوں، کارکردگی اور اقدامات پر بریفنگ دی۔

Director General Sajid Hussain Shah briefed the Minister on DGST’s mandate, ongoing programmes, key achievements and new initiatives focused on science, technology, research and innovation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The briefing highlighted key initiatives including:

🔹 Open WiFi Initiative — providing free public internet access at major public places and public-sector hospitals.

🔹 E-Basta — promoting digital learning and providing technology-enabled educational resources to students.

🔹 Drone Technology & Aerial Robotics — promoting research, practical applications and local development of drone technologies.

🔹 KP Data Centre — strengthening the province’s digital infrastructure and secure data services.

🔹 Security Operations Centre (SOC) & Cybersecurity — strengthening cybersecurity, digital monitoring and protection of critical systems.

🔹 Popularization of Science, Technology & Innovation (PSTI) — promoting scientific research, innovation, awareness and capacity building.

🔹 Building the Provincial STI System — strengthening the province’s science, technology and innovation ecosystem.

🔹 Building STI Capacity in Emerging Technologies — developing expertise and practical applications in emerging technologies.

🔹 Science & Technology Museum — establishing the province’s first Science & Technology Museum in Peshawar.

🔹 Technology Incubation Centre — supporting startups, entrepreneurship and young innovators.

🔹 Technology Transfer & Local Technology Development — facilitating the adoption and development of technology-based solutions.

The Minister emphasized accelerating practical implementation, strengthening research and innovation, and expanding technology-based solutions for better public services and new opportunities for youth.

Meet Saifullah, a student at the University of Engineering and Technology, Mardan, whose undergraduate research is turning AI and robotics into a practical solution for modern agriculture.

🎓 Research Title: “𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐀𝐈-𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐭”

With support through the Undergraduate Research Support initiative, 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵 is developing an intelligent robotic system capable of using Artificial Intelligence and computer vision to detect and eliminate weeds autonomously—helping reduce manual labor, improve precision, and promote smarter farming practices.

🚜🌾 From an undergraduate research project to a potential smart agriculture solution, this work demonstrates how investing in young researchers can transform innovative ideas into real-world technologies.

The Director General, DGST, warmly welcomed the Secretary and briefed him on the mandate and key functions of the Directorate. 💡 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲: IoT-Based Condition Monitoring of Micro-Hydro Turbine

Through DGST’s research support, Muhammad Rashid is working on an innovative IoT-based solution for 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼-𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀, helping improve their performance, reliability, and maintenance.

⚙️ By integrating IoT, sensors, and intelligent monitoring, the project aims to detect abnormal operating conditions at an early stage and support more efficient and reliable renewable energy generation.
