Peace Corps Thailand Government About Peace Corps
The Peace Corps traces its roots and mission to 1960, when then Senator John F.

Kennedy challenged students at the University of Michigan to serve their country in the cause of peace by living and working in developing countries. From that inspiration grew an agency of the federal government devoted to world peace and friendship. Since that time, more than 240,000 Americans of all ages have responded to Kennedy’s call to serve and have helped communities in 161 countries to work on issues ranging from AIDS education to information technology and environmental preservation. Today's Peace Corps is more vital than ever, working in emerging and essential areas such as information technology and business development, and contributing to the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. Peace Corps Volunteers continue to support countless individuals who want to build a better life for themselves, their children, and their communities. COMMENT POLICY

Leave your “Ouch” and “Oops” at the airport. It’s time to sound like a Thai person!

We continue Peace Corps Language Week with interjections. Even the expressions we use express emotions differ from culture to culture. Today, volunteers are swapping their everyday American interjections for the Thai expressions with the help of their counterparts! Which difference is your favorite?

Some Volunteers are sharing their favorite Thai phrases — and stick around until the end to hear a Thai Co-Teacher share their favorite American English phrase! 👀🇹🇭🇺🇸

Thailand has four major regional dialects. Peace Corps Volunteers, placed throughout the country of Thailand, will have the chance to learn and speak these dialects in their communities.

Guess what day it is!

This Selfie Sunday, we’re showcasing Holly’s recent English camp in her community with fellow Youth in Development Volunteer Sora.

Students made a life road map, from their birth to present day and highlighted key moments in their life. They also learned directional English vocabulary and made a community map, where they practiced public speaking during group presentations.

Every new experience, piece of encouragement, and lesson can be a step toward success!

The Peace Corps Partnership Program (PCPP) connects Peace Corps Volunteers and their local host communities with private donors to support grassroots, community-led projects.

Teacher Empowerment for Student Success (TESS) Volunteer Ariana’s goal is to create an English Learning Space for her students. This initiative will benefit the community by strengthening students’ English communication skills, confidence, digital literacy, and engagement in learning, while giving them a dedicated space to immerse themselves in English, discover their potential, and build skills that can open new opportunities for their future.

By creating a sustainable educational resource that teachers and students can continue using for years to come, the project will help ensure that the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream extends to generations of students.

Peace Corps Volunteer Coles was gifted a school uniform to match his students! His favorite thing about teaching is seeing how excited the students get about learning, especially when a game is involved. He always tries to make class something to look forward to, not dread.

Introducing 5K Friday!

If you were to ask a Peace Corps Volunteer in Thailand what they do in their free time, a very common answer is going on a run. Whether for exercise, mental health purposes, or just for fun, there is nothing quite like running around in your community.

Starting next Friday, follow along on a Volunteer’s run on our instagram story!

This wonderful selfie Sunday comes with bonus content!

Youth in Development Volunteer Victoria recently joined the 2026 Youth Leadership Skills Development Program for her community, where children and youth built confidence, strengthened teamwork, and discovered the positive impact they can make in their communities.

Peace Corps Thailand is proud to stand alongside our Thai partners in empowering young people to create brighter futures for themselves and their communities.
