Good morning everyone! Much of western and central North Dakota observed around 1-3 inches of rainfall over the past two days, with portions of the James River Valley reporting rainfall totals as high as 5-6 inches!

We broke a few daily rainfall records yesterday, with 1.19 inches at Dickinson (breaking the previous record of 0.48 inches in 1986), and 0.69 inches at Jamestown (beating the earlier record of 0.45 inches from 2013). As a fun fact, the additional 2.10 inches of rain observed overnight will bring Jamestown back toward near normal precipitation for this point of the year.

A Flood Watch is in effect this evening until 7 am CDT Tuesday. A swath of 2 to 3 inches of rain fell earlier today across parts of far south central and southeastern North Dakota. Additional shower and thunderstorm development is expected this evening, which may result in flooding of low-lying areas. Especially in locations where heavy rain already fell.
