📢 Important Border Health Measures Update
In response to the continued escalation of the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda, Taiwan will implement new border control measures beginning at 12:00 a.m. on June 2, 2026, in order to reduce the risk of imported cases and safeguard public health.
🔹 Temporary Entry Restrictions (90 days)
Effective June 2, 2026:
❗ Taiwan will suspend the issuance of visas to residents of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
❗ Holders of previously issued visas will also be temporarily suspended from entering Taiwan.
The following four categories are exempt from the restriction:
1️⃣ Degree-seeking students who have already received admission approval from Taiwanese institutions
2️⃣ Individuals traveling for official diplomatic purposes
3️⃣ Foreign spouses of Taiwanese nationals and their minor children
4️⃣ Emergency or humanitarian cases, such as attending funerals or visiting critically ill family members
🔹 Entry Health Management Measures
Taiwanese nationals, valid ARC holders, and eligible travelers who have visited the DRC or Uganda within 21 days prior to arrival in Taiwan are required to:
✔ Report to airport quarantine stations upon arrival
✔ Undergo 21 days of self-health monitoring
✔ Submit daily health updates
✔ Immediately contact the 1922 hotline if symptoms develop
⚠ Travelers presenting symptoms consistent with Ebola infection — including fever, headache, muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, or bleeding — will be referred for immediate medical evaluation and follow-up by health authorities.
📌 Taiwan CDC currently lists both the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda under Level 3 “Warning” travel notice and advises against all non-essential travel to these areas.
The above measures will be reviewed and adjusted according to the latest international epidemic developments.
