Calling all history buffs and generally curious individuals…

Did you know that Canton has some significant historic buildings that you probably pass by often? For example, when the Town of Canton was first established, the town meetings took place in what is now the First Congregational Church of Canton Center. The old schoolhouse is across the street and next to the old cemetery where several significant ancestors are buried.

When John Brown, the famous abolitionist, was a young boy, he spent many days at his grandparents' home in North Canton.

On Saturday, June 13, the Canton Center Historic District Commission is sponsoring a tour of several of these historic buildings. There will be a free bus provided generously by Martel Transportation that will take us from the Canton Historical Museum with stops in Canton Center and North Canton and back. Hear the stories of the people and places that made Canton the special place it is today.

Registration is required. Tours will be in three sessions : 1:00pm., 2:00pm. and 3:00pm. When you register, please share which time you are registering for, and be sure to share your email address and phone number so that event organizers can share further information with you. Register on the library website here: https://engagedpatrons.org/EventsExtended.cfm?SiteID=4669&EventID=590707&PK=

Good morning! We are back open today. We are in the last couple of days of our system migration, so our services are still limited -- we can check books in and out but you MUST have your library card with you. Fingers crossed that we're able to go live on our new system on Wednesday as scheduled!

It's also June, and around here June means one thing: summer reading is upon us! Summer programs are up on our website -- check it out.

There is still room in this fascinating, historical program tomorrow night! Register today.
