Newton Ransom Volunteer Fire Company Fire, Rescue, and EMS provided to the residents of Newton and Ransom Townships, Lackawanna County

The Newton-Ransom Volunteer Fire Company provides Fire & Emergency Medical Services to the residents of Newton and Ransom Townships. The Newton-Ransom Volunteer Fire Company has a total coverage area of 40.7 sq miles with over 4,200 residents and over 1,500 households. NRVFC currently has a fleet of Engine 8, Rescue 8, Tanker 8, Tanker 8-2, Brush-Tanker 8, Brush 8, Ambulance 8-9 and a pump trailer.

It has come to our attention that an anonymous facebook user has posted some negative remarks about the fire company. First and foremost in regard to our ISO rating, we have now the best ISO rating that we have ever had and we our on top of this situation. Also, a comment was made about us selling our tanker. Yes we are, however we also have a fire engine that carries 1,000 gallons of water and another tanker that carries 3,750 gallons of water. We are looking to replace that tanker as soon as possible with another tanker with less computer controlled equipment and emissions.

PA DEP: CODE RED
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued a state wide Code Red Air Quality Alert for Thursday July 16th lasting 24 hours into Friday July 17th due to wildfire smoke coming from Canada and Minnesota. Code Red is identified as unhealthy to all.

As of now, a code orange will be in affect statewide for Friday 7/17 as the smoke begins to make its way out of our area.

These alerts are determined on a 24 hour average for air quality forecasts and readings. Some areas may have more or less density than forecasted.

If able, avoid exposure as much as possible, especially people with respiratory and other health related issues.
