The Center for Community Solutions

The Center for Community Solutions The Center for Community Solutions is a nonpartisan think tank focused on solutions to health, social

Our Work:

Three areas of expertise support every aspect of our work: Applied Research; Nonpartisan Public Policy and Advocacy; and Communications. All three areas work together to achieve goals around the following policies:

*Strengthening the Health and Human Services Safety Net
*Medicaid
*Safety, Health, and Economic Wellbeing of Older Adults
*Improving Maternal and Infant Health
*Improving

Access to Behavioral Health Services
*Adolescent Reproductive Health Education

We believe by properly combating these issues, we will be one step closer to achieving our main goal: to improve the quality of life of all Ohioans. Community Solutions' efforts are critical to the work and effectiveness of direct service organizations in Northeast Ohio. These organizations use our data to identify changes in community demographics that will impact their services and identify the gaps and overlaps within these services. They use our timely and affordable training programs to increase their knowledge in order to better serve their constituents. They use our analysis to better understand public policies that effect their work and develop advocacy agendas accordingly. They use the networks and coalitions we offer to build a strong voice on behalf of the most vulnerable citizens in our community. In addition to direct service organizations, funders, as well as policy makers, rely on our data and analysis to inform their decision-making, which can potentially impact all Ohioans.

Fraud matters to the public, but is not the primary lens through which they view Medicaid. When forced to choose, voters consistently place greater weight on whether programs reach those in need than on whether every dollar is perfectly controlled. At the same time, claims of widespread fraud remain politically salient, shaping how policymakers frame proposals to reform or reduce Medicaid spending. Read the analysis: commsols.com/medicaidwaste

SNAP is the nation’s most effective tool to reduce hunger and food insecurity. After unprecedented cuts to the program in the H.R.1 megabill, however, participation fell by more than 3 million people nationwide in just 6 months. Cuts have shifted significant new costs to states, and economic conditions aren't improving.
