Volunteer Delaware provides volunteer referral services, technical assistance, and other resources to those in the field of volunteer management and to those interested in serving as a volunteer in the State of Delaware. Volunteer Delaware is part of the Department of Health and Social Services, Division of State Service Centers within the State Office of Volunteerism.

Make a powerful difference—right from home. YWCA Delaware Sexual Assault Response Center (SARC) is seeking compassionate volunteers to serve as Sexual Assault Helpline Advocates supporting survivors across Delaware.

Helpline advocates provide confidential, trauma-informed support to survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence, and human trafficking. Through crisis intervention, safety planning, and resource referrals, advocates serve as a critical bridge from immediate crisis to long-term healing.

đź•° Ongoing | Choose your own on-call shifts:
• 12:00 AM – 6:00 AM
• 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
• 6:00 PM – 12:00 AM
(No minimum number of shifts required)

📞 What this role looks like:
• Respond to helpline calls routed to your personal phone
• Provide calm, compassionate crisis support
• Conduct safety, su***de risk, and lethality assessments when appropriate
• Connect survivors to SARC and community resources
• Volunteer remotely from a quiet, private space

🎓 Training & Requirements:
• Application and interview required
• No prior experience needed
• Completion of initial training and advanced workshops required
• Communication with on-call Supervisor during shifts
• Timely and accurate documentation
• Delaware state background check required

Mt. Cuba Center is hosting Provisions at the Ponds, a signature event featuring curated cocktails, small-plate tasting stations, and behind-the-scenes insights—all set throughout the gardens’ stunning native plant landscapes.

Volunteers are needed to assist with food service during the event. Responsibilities include plating food items and setting out servings as guests move through tasting stations. No experience is necessary—just a friendly attitude and willingness to help.

Distribute Books to a Little Free Library Near You

They help keep books accessible 24/7 by sharing gently used books in neighborhood Little Free Libraries. Volunteers can do this once—or make it a regular habit.

What Volunteers will do:
• Collect books in good condition (or donate from their own collection)
• Visit Little Free Libraries nearby and leave books inside
• Check in using the Little Free Library app to log how many books were shared
• Submit a quick impact form when finished

Why it matters:
Keeping Little Free Libraries stocked helps build community, inspire readers, and expand access to books for all ages.

Support provided:
They’ll receive simple online training, tips, and suggested sources for finding books. Staff are available by email for questions.

Good fit for:
• Solo volunteers seeking flexibility
• Parents looking for a volunteer activity to do with kids
• Anyone who loves books and community sharing

📣Claymont Elementary School is getting a brand-new garden, and they need your help to make it happen! Join Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids for a fun, hands-on day of playing in the dirt as we build garden beds and fill them with soil—all in one day.

🗓 When: Tuesday, June 30 | 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
🌧 Rain date: Thursday, July 2
📍 Where: Claymont Elementary School

👩‍🌾 What to Expect:
We’ll split into teams to build and fill new garden beds
HFHK staff will demonstrate how to do everything
Up to 5 hours of work depending on volunteers and equipment
A great community project that makes a lasting impact

🧤 What to Bring:
Clothes and sturdy shoes you don’t mind getting dirty
Refillable water bottle (water will also be available)
If you can, your own tools!
