Last week, Captain Blattner, Corporal Gardner, and State Emergency Senior On-Scene Coordinator Chamberlain proudly completed the 30th Annual Police Unity Tour with Chapter IX.

Over the course of four days, they rode bicycles approximately 255 miles and climbed over 13,000 feet of elevation, traveling from Philadelphia to Washington D.C. to honor the courageous law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Thank you for representing our agency and community with strength, dedication, and remembrance. Your commitment helps ensure these heroes are never forgotten.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls, as National Police Week.

Join us in remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and those who continue to selflessly serve and protect their communities across the United States.

Check out a recent arrest made by our Environmental Crimes Unit!

After an investigation by Delaware Natural Resources Police, working with Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) and the Delaware State Police, a Wilmington resident was arrested on multiple charges related to repeated illegal dumping of construction and household waste along Terminal Avenue and Interstate 495.

Since May 2025, DelDOT crews responded to 10 separate dumping incidents at the site, requiring more than 55 hours of cleanup time and costing more than $5,000 in landfill fees.

Illegal dumping remains a costly statewide issue. Last year alone, DelDOT and its partners collected 82,000 bags of trash and nearly 5,000 tires from Delaware roadsides — costing millions of dollars in cleanup and disposal that could otherwise be used for road maintenance and other priorities.
