The El Paso County Parks & Recreation Department was pleased to host a ceremony for veterans who participated in the PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) program at the Ascarate Golf Course on Tuesday, August 15. The event included a celebratory lunch after participants completed their 6- week program.

PGA HOPE is the flagship military program of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America. The program introduces golf to Veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being. Programming is free to all Veterans and is funded by PGA REACH and supplemented by PGA Section Foundations.

It's back to school, but summer is not over just yet. All County Pools have adjusted their public swim hours.

Monday through Friday: 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.,
Saturdays and Sundays: 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.,

These hours will be in effect until Labor Day, Monday, September 4th. Pool hours are subject to change in the event of any issues that may arise and/or inclement weather conditions.

In memory of the 23 loved ones lost on August 3, 2019, El Paso County and our community partners will host a series of remembrance tributes and ceremonies.
El Paso County will host a reading of the names and an unveiling of 23 lighted beams at the El Paso County Healing Garden located inside Ascarate Park, 6900 Delta. The ceremony will begin at 8:00 pm.

Since many animals fear fireworks, the El Paso County Animal Welfare Department has a few safety tips to help protect your pets this 4th of July

- Make sure your pets are microchipped and have appropriate size collars with ID tags.
- Bring pets inside;
- Leave the TV or radio on to provide a distraction;
- Close the curtains or blinds
- Make sure they get plenty of exercise before dark;
- Check fencing to make sure pets cannot escape;

Beginning TOMORROW, July 4 - 7, we will hold classes at Ascarate Park Aquatic Center with space for the first 16 people.

Be a VIP this July 4th and join us at Ascarate Golf Course! The Ascarate Golf Course VIP Picnic Party promises a spectacular view of the fireworks with the best seats in the park. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Pro Shop:
$35 adults (18+)
$10 youth (6-17)*

The ticket includes dinner from Clasico, a parking pass, door prizes, backyard picnic games and live music by“Excape Band” **Children under 5 years do not require a ticket; however, a dinner plate will not be included.

It's not officially summer without Parks After Sunset Movie Series! El Paso County Parks & Recreation is excited to announce this year's line up with movies beginning at sunset (approx. 8:30pm MST)

We will be partnering with El Paso County Animal Welfare and the El Paso County Sheriff's Office - EPCSO as they provide microchipping, pet adoptions and great activities for the kids.

This year we added two splashdown events (June 3 & July 1) so be sure to bring your towels to those events, they will start at 6pm!

We'll see you at sunset with your blankets and chairs!

Don't stress about finding that perfect spot for Easter Sunday at Ascarate Park. You can reserve a picnic shelter for Easter Weekend starting at $50/day. Shelters that are not already reserved are free on a first come, first serve basis.

For more information call 915.771.2380 to book your appointment. Last day to reserve is Thursday, April 14th.

We will be having a Kid Fish Derby this Saturday as part of our Barks, Books, and Bait event. Kids ages 3-16 can participate
