Ricky Scearce Memorial Scholarship

Ricky Scearce Memorial Scholarship The Ricky Scearce Memorial Scholarship was established to help Katy ISD student-athletes defer the cost of college tuition.

Ricky Scearce was a long time educator and coach in the Katy Independent School District. He worked at Mayde Creek Junior High, Taylor High School, and Memorial Parkway Junior High. He was a graduate of Katy High School class of 1969. He went on to earn his bachelors at Sam Houston State University and his masters from Prairie View A&M. Ricky was an active basketball official (Rice Belt) and softb

all umpire (TASO). This scholarship was set up to honor his dedication to the youth of Katy, Texas. Each year scholarships will be awarded to student-athletes who are seniors at a Katy ISD school and plan on attending a college/university in the fall. Numerous friends and family members helped establish the scholarship after his death in May of 2012. To continue the scholarship for many years to come, we will host events to help raise funds and honor this great man who so tirelessly gave to the Katy community. Today marks 75 years since my dad was born. He only lived just shy of 61 one of those years here on earth.

Reflecting on how he chose to live those 61 years. My dad was not a man of many words but let his actions speak for themselves. He led by example. He was a man of high Integrity. Was beyond grateful to have him as my dad and he was the best Papa.
