LSU Law shaped so much of who I am today, both on and off the bench.

Long before I had a gavel and a robe, I had a dream of serving my community, and LSU Law gave me the tools to do just that.

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was seeing my former Legal Research and Writing professor. There is something special about reconnecting with the people who saw potential in you early on, challenged you to grow, and helped lay the foundation for the path ahead.

I am grateful for my LSU Law family and for the lessons and relationships that continue to stay with me all these years later.

This past weekend, I spent time with the Bay Area Democrats and hit the doors alongside my fellow colleagues who are on the ballot.

Was it hot? Absolutely. But it was worth every moment in the heat to connect with our residents, hear from our communities, and make sure voters have the information they need to make informed decisions all the way down the ballot this November.

Every door, conversation, and vote matters.

What do the young folks say? I’m outside!

I had an amazing weekend connecting with our community, from our Fresh Start program to the opening of the Harris County Democratic Party office.

I also had the honor of teaching a course at South Texas College of Law and sharing in the education, growth, and development of future leaders in our legal profession.

As a judge, I believe being present matters. That means showing up, listening, and staying connected to the people we are honored to serve.
