**NOTICE**
⚠️October 4, 2023 at approximately 1:20 P.M. central time, FEMA in coordination with the FCC will be conducting a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System and the Wireless Emergency Alerts.
✅This test is to ensure that the systems continue to be effective means of warning the public about emergencies, particularly those on a national level.
📲All wireless phones should only receive the message only once and will read: "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed."

Ron Shmitz is teaching Disaster Medical Operations today for Alvin High School CERT.
NOTICE: Traps collected by Brazoria County Mosquito Control found three mosquito trap sites that tested positive for West Nile Virus. Mosquito Control will spray these areas twice nightly for three days, and then retest the areas.
Trap locations:
1. Lake Jackson area - CR 288 and Sleepy Hollow
2. Alvin area - CR 148 and CR 147
3. Alvin area - CR 182 and CR 38.
If you live in these areas, please take extra precautions when outside and remember the 4'Ds to protect yourself and your family members against West Nile Virus.
Katy Safety Festival was HOT to say the least! HPP made a big hit with the cooling station. Having a place to get out of the heat was very much appreciated by all. Our volunteers are the absolute best! We happily played in the rain as we loaded everything up.❤️

Ingleside CERT training
PHI Medical is doing a training with Surfside EMS this morning. Thank you for letting our CERT Members look at the helicopter and answering all their questions!
Yesterday our newest CERT Members in Surfside learned how to properly remove gloves after medical use. Using shaving cream as a visual is always a good time!
We have CERT Training happening in Surfside this weekend. Thank you to Bart with Save Our Beach Association for helping us get this class together!

Heat is the leading cause of weather-related fatalities each year. A heat wave is a period of abnormally hot and sometimes humid weather, generally lasting more than a couple of days. Heat waves have the potential to cover a large area, exposing a high number of people to a hazardous combination of heat and humidity, which can be very taxing on the body. The BCFMO continues to monitor drought and fire danger conditions throughout Brazoria County. With no significant rain and extremely high temperatures, conditions are deteriorating. Brazoria County's current KBDI average is 524 for the day. The Fire Marshal's Office recommends caution when working outdoors and cooking outdoors.
