82 years ago today, Operation Overlord commenced at 6:30 AM local time along 60 miles of shoreline of Normandy, France. Over 4,000 American lives, most under the age of 20, were lost in the storming of Omaha and Utah beaches. The liberating Allies suffered at least 10,000 casualties that day as the Normandy invasion, the largest air, land, and sea operation undertaken before or since, sent over 5,000 ships, 11,000 airplanes, and over 150,000 servicemen to breach the German stronghold on France. Their brave confrontation of tyranny changed the trajectory of WWII forever. Learn more about this pivotal day in world history at https://www.normandy1944.info/.

You never saw him in front of the camera, but if your child visited the Capitol or you saw photos from within the Capitol, Joe likely took them. Joe Koshollek was a funny, even keeled, kind, talented presence in the Wisconsin State Capitol for years. He left us for eternity yesterday, and we are all deeply saddened. Please join me in praying for all who knew and loved him. πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’”

Here's a great chance to support our first responders!

Here's a great chance to support our first responders!

Do you remember the 2025 National Night Out Kickball Championship (as Team Police likes to call it)? You know, the one where Team Police handed Team Fire a devastating defeat on the kickball field? As part of the friendly wager, the losing team agreed to cook a meal, and all proceeds would go to a charitable donation of their choosing.

Well, it’s been decided! Team Fire will be doing a brat fry at the police department. All proceeds will go to the support our Joint Police and Fire Peer Support Team. Our newly founded peer support team provides confidential emotional support from colleagues who firsthand understand the unique traumas of emergency response. This shared initiative exists to protect our protectors, fostering a resilient culture so no responder faces their hardest days alone.

We're looking forward to seeing Team Fire make good on their promise and serve up a well-deserved meal for ourselves and community members.

Join us on Tuesday, 6/23/26, at the Oconomowoc Police Department parking lot from 11:00am-1:00pm. There will be brats, hot dogs, chips, and beverages for purchase. Cash and/or Card accepted.

Who's ready for a rematch at this year's National Night Out?
