This weekend, Groveland Emergency Food Shelf was excited to be a checkpoint in the return of the Alley Cat! 🚲💜

If you've never heard of an alley cat race, think of it as a scavenger hunt on a bike. Riders receive a manifest of checkpoints to visit throughout the city, navigating their own route while completing challenges along the way.

Our challenge was simple but impactful: bring a nonperishable food item to donate to Groveland Emergency Food Shelf. Thanks to every rider who showed up with a donation and helped stock our shelves while supporting a fun community event.

It was a hot day, but there were even bigger smiles. We loved seeing so many cyclists out enjoying the return of this beloved event and are grateful to have been part of it.

Thank you to Babes In Bikeland for including Groveland Emergency Food Shelf as a stop, and to everyone who pedaled, donated, volunteered, and made the day such a success. We hope to see you again next year! 💙🥫🚴

Our van is how we keep the shelves full. Every week it picks up food from local grocery stores, vendors, and donors and brings it back to Groveland Food Shelf, where our neighbors choose what they need. With around 120 new guests turning to us for the first time each week, that van runs constantly. We are putting a reliable new one on the road, and thanks to our generous donors we are starting at $20,000 toward our $55,000 goal. Help us keep the food coming:

Classica Chamber Players are honored to present this very special Music for Food concert to the community as a fundraiser for the Groveland Emergency Food Shelf. Just as food is essential to life, playing and listening to great music inspires and nourishes us.

The concert is open to the public, and a freewill offering will be collected for the Groveland Food Shelf!

Do you live in an apartment and miss getting into the soil? Join in this gardening project that grows food for Groveland Food Shelf and Hennepin Church’s free community meals.

Community Gardening with Creation Collective
Starting NEXT Tuesday, June 2 | 6-8pm

Meet on Tuesday evenings throughout the summer and into the fall, weather permitting! Join with others in caring for our garden! Local produce harvested throughout the fall will be donated to Groveland Food Shelf and Community Meals.

Anyone is welcome to join us! There is no experience needed.

Help prepping beds, planting, weeding, and harvesting!

Thank you to our amazing donors! With your support, we collected over $70,000 and close to 27,000 pounds of donated food during the MN FoodShare Challenge in March. Because of your generosity, people will have the food they need to sustain themselves while dealing with the daily challenges of making ends meet. We will also continue to provide supplemental food to local groups doing home delivery and providing meals. We couldn’t do this work without YOU. Thank you.
