PSA: Friendly Reminder that fireworks are PROHIBITED on University of Montana campus property without a permit.

As we enjoy the summer season, please help us keep our campus safe for everyone—including our wildlife. The east Missoula College Campus parking lot is home to a nearby osprey nest, and loud fireworks can cause unnecessary stress and disturbance to these protected birds during nesting season.

By leaving the fireworks to permitted displays, you're helping protect our campus community, preventing fire hazards, and ensuring the safety of the ospreys that call our campus home.

Thank you for doing your part to keep the University of Montana safe—for people and wildlife alike.

Back in May, our officers were honored to participate in the 2026 Law Enforcement Parade at Hellgate Elementary alongside our public safety partners.

A special thank you to 5th-grade teacher Mrs. Kate Singleterry for coordinating such a meaningful event and bringing everyone together. The enthusiasm and support from the students made the day one to remember.

After the parade, officers had the opportunity to meet with students, answer questions, and showcase our patrol vehicles and equipment.

We appreciate the students, teachers, staff, and families of Hellgate Elementary for the warm hospitality. Thank you for welcoming us—we're grateful for the opportunity to spend the day with you and look forward to continuing to serve our community.

[Update: Due to a massive cloud shield, storms may not be able to get as strong as earlier thought. Also storms will be moving quickly to the northeast at 20-25 mph which would limit the amount of rainfall. A few could produce small hail less than one inch in diameter. Additionally a few night-time storms are possible across northwest Montana tonight. ]
Heads up for Monday! 🌩️ We are tracking thunderstorms expected to impact primarily north central Idaho and west-central/southwest Montana.
If you have outdoor plans or live in a flood-prone area, here are the main threats to prepare for:
🌧️ Heavy Rain: Rates of 0.50–0.75” per hour could lead to localized debris flows.
⚡ Lightning: A serious danger to those recreating outside, with the potential to ignite new fire starts.
💨 Gusty Winds: Gusts of 40 to 50 mph are possible, especially across southwest Montana.

Secure loose outdoor items and know where you will take shelter if a storm approaches your area. Another round of storms is possible on Tuesday.

Debra has been located and is safe.
Thank you to all who assisted and helped us locate her!

The Missoula Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in locating 73-year-old Debra Parker.

Debra left her care facility at approximately 2:30 p.m. today from the Miller Creek area and is believed to have possibly headed toward the Rattlesnake area.

If you see Debra or know where she may be, please call 911 immediately. Your quick response could help ensure she is located safely.
