This month, our financial educator Chelsea led three financial workshops for residents at Missoula Housing Authority's Villagio Apartments, women in the YWCA Missoula Pathways program and staff at Missoula Interfaith Collaborative.

Participants built confidence and practical skills to take control of their finances through simple strategies for tracking spending, setting goals and creating budgets that work in real life.

For Chelsea, the experience was deeply personal. She shared that access to this kind of education years ago could have made a huge difference in her own life, which is why connecting with people facing those same challenges today means so much to her.

“Budgeting almost feels like a secret tool I want to share with the world,” she said. “So many of us were expected to understand money management without ever being taught the basics.”

We’re grateful to our community partners for helping make financial education more accessible in Missoula.

Share your thoughts and opinions on draft master plan concepts at our second community workshop and/or online survey!

The City of Missoula’s Redevelopment Agency is conducting a master planning process for the North Reserve-Scott Street Urban Renewal District (NRSS-URD) and planned URD expansion areas. The project is currently in the draft design phase and we are seeking feedback on the plan vision, draft concepts and initial land use recommendations.

A few weeks ago, Homeword’s Fundraising Manager, Jacq, attended the Salish Kootenai Housing Authority ʾIt̓qaʾwxam Nk̓ʷúwilš Solidarity Program Advisors Meeting at Ninepipes Lodge alongside community partner Amber Shaffer.

We are proud to support efforts that help more Native families achieve homeownership. The program provides grants to residents currently living in SKHA properties, creating pathways to homeownership while also opening up housing opportunities for families on the waiting list.

Homeword Asset Manager Erin recently made a stop in Butte to visit Silver Bow Village.

Located in a quiet, family-oriented neighborhood, Silver Bow Village offers 60 affordable rental homes for families, including 24 two-bedroom and 36 three-bedroom apartments. Conveniently situated near a park, post office, medical and dental offices and shopping, the property provides stable housing with easy access to everyday essentials.

Homeword acquired Silver Bow Village in 2012 and became the property’s full owner in 2026. During her visit, Erin spent time getting a closer look at the community that so many Butte families call home.
