Register now for an upcoming Virtual Workshop!

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) For Co-Occurring Disorders

Presented by Dr. Christopher Deussing, DSW, LCSW

Individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders represent one of the most complex and underserved populations in behavioral health.

Traditional treatment models often separate mental health and addiction services, leaving clinicians struggling to address the dynamic interplay between emotional dysregulation, trauma, impulsivity, and substance use.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) provides a powerful framework by targeting the underlying processes that maintain both psychiatric symptoms and addictive behaviors.

Ideal for Advanced Practice Providers
Four 2.5-Hour Sessions
Standalone sessions – take one or take all four.
Every Wednesday in August:
10:00am – 12:30pm
August 19, August 26

Learning objectives:
• Identify core features and treatment challenges of co-occurring disorders
• Explain the Biosocial Model of emotion dysregulation
• Apply DBT principles with clients experiencing mental health and substance use disorders
• Utilize DBT skills to address urges, cravings, emotional dysregulation, and high-risk behaviors
• Implement DBT-informed relapse prevention strategies
• Effectively manage therapy-interfering behaviors and treatment resistance
