We are very excited to share that DVI will hosting our annual White Cane Day Walk on October 9th! National White Cane Day is so important to everyone at DVI, and we cannot wait to celebrate with a lovely walk outside. But that's not at all- this year, DVI will also be hosting the walk in Downstate Delaware! We are so happy to provide the opportunity for more downstate folks to attend and honor this significant day with friends and family. The walk will be at the same date and time, just in two different locations. We hope to see you there!

Leaders from the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS), its Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health (DSAMH), recovery service providers and community partners gathered Monday at Impact Life’s Wilmington Recovery Café to highlight Recovery Community Centers and the role they play in supporting Delawareans in recovery as the state closes out National Recovery Month. The briefing included representatives from Impact Life, Horizon House and The CAUSE. Recovery Community Centers are community-based spaces that provide peer recovery support, resources, wellness opportunities and connections to services for people at different stages of recovery from substance use disorders and mental health challenges. Medicaid ENGAGE!

Medicaid eligibility rules are changing for non-U.S. citizens. Starting Oct. 1, 2026, you must have an approved immigration status to receive full Medicaid benefits under new federal rules. This includes lawful permanent residents (with a Green Card) who have completed their five-year waiting period or had a status that didn’t require it, Cuban or Haitian entrants, citizens of the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, or Palau living in the U.S. under the Compact of Free Association (COFA), and children or pregnant women who qualify under Delaware’s elected CHIPRA 214 option.

DDDS brought Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) from across Delaware together today for the 2026 Delaware Direct Support Professional Summit. The summit was a time to celebrate, uplift, grow, and lead—with opportunities to share experiences, learn new tools and strategies, connect with peers, and strengthen partnerships that build a stronger community.
