🌟Staff Spotlight🌟: Lisa Dyvig, Registrar

We are fortunate enough to have Lisa Dyvig as our Registrar here at OHS! Interim Principal Wilson recently nominated Lisa for our district-wide recognition, "Everyday Hero." Here is what Principal Wilson had to say:

"Lisa Dyvig, our Registrar at Olympia High School, is the ultimate team player and a vital asset to our counseling center. She responds quickly to requests and stays attentive to the needs of both our staff and the broader community. Even during the chaotic start of the school year, when her workload peaks, Lisa maintains a positive attitude and keeps things running smoothly. When the front desk is short-staffed, she never hesitates to step up and help in person. If she encounters something she doesn’t know how to do, she knows exactly who to ask and always follows through. Her helpfulness makes a huge difference for both current families and graduates. We are so lucky to have such a kind, skilled, and reliable person at OHS!"

Thank you for all that you do, Lisa. You are so appreciated!

Fresh off the presses on this Friday afternoon, we have this year's first edition of The Olympus! The cover story is all about Principal Grant and his road to recovery.

Everyone who is lucky enough to work with Principal Grant has gotten to witness firsthand his resilience, sense of humor, and curiosity in good times, and not so good times. This touching cover story, accompanied by a photo of well wishes from students, really captures that well. Principal Grant, we sure do miss you and we are sending you all of our well wishes. We hope to see you soon!

The Olympus, helmed by the amazingly talented Ms. Gilman, also has a fantastic website (www.theolympus.net). While many of us prefer an old school newspaper (can't beat the smell of fresh newsprint!), their website is also wonderful. We are so proud of our talented journalism students for putting out such a great first edition. Go Bears! 🐻💙

🌟Staff Spotlight: Ms. Tia! 🌟

Ms. Tia, one of our phenomenal paraeducators, was nominated by Dr. Lee (our Restorative Center Coordinator) for the district-wide *Everyday Hero* recognition! We’re excited to celebrate Ms. Tia and the incredible impact she makes in our school community. Here’s what Dr. Lee has to say about her:

"Tia has a knack for connecting with students that is difficult to describe. She has a literal 'bag of tricks' at the ready, full of fidget toys and other tools students can use for emotional regulation. She remains calm, cool and collected during difficult moments. Her expectations are clear and consistent, and always rooted in a positive relationship with the student. I recently had the opportunity to spend some additional time with her and see her work her magic. Olympia High School is incredibly lucky to have her."

Thank you for everything you do, Tia. We certainly are glad you're here! Go Bears! 🐻💙

Last Friday, we had the opportunity to take a fantastic group of students to the National College Fair in Seattle. Here, they got to network with over 600 colleges to learn about their programs and what they offer. Here are just a handful of snapshots from the day! A huge thank you to Ms. Boelts for organizing this field trip, and to the wonderful staff who also chaperoned. We are so grateful that our students had this opportunity. GO BEARS! 🐻💙 OHS Career Center - Olympia, WA
