Thank you to WCAX-TV for this feature on Saturday’s food preservation class with our very own community educator and master food preserver, Kari Lamkins, and master gardener volunteer and master food preserver, Vickie Martineau.

We loved partnering with Ausable Valley Grange and Keeseville Hope Kitchen to offer this hands-on canning class. And a big THANK YOU to Northern Orchard Co., Inc. for donating the apples.

For folks with an abundant harvest this season, canning may be the solution. A Keeseville class teaches the skill.

We at CCE Clinton would like to give a very big thank you to everyone who attended our Annual Meeting and dinner on Tuesday, Oct 29 at Beekmantown Hall. It was a wonderful evening with food from Whistle Stop Fusion Barbeque & Craft Mocktails.
We recognized the outgoing board and committee members along with 2024 Friends of Extension Val Bertholf, and Giroux Poultry for their continued support. There was an awesome presentation from 4H member, Carter Bierman, about how cold weather affects horses – he received a standing ovation! Thank you to everyone who donated their homemade pies for the pie raffle including Chazy Orchards. Thank you again for your continued support and learning how CCE connects with the community.

Now that it’s turned cooler in many areas, leaves have started to fall off the trees. You may be tempted to rake those leaves and put them in trash bags. Please DON’T!

Do fewer chores and leave essential habitat for many overwintering pollinators! If you want to neaten up the yard, rake the leaves to garden beds, around the base of trees, or in sections. When the leaves break down (helped along by caterpillars and other insects), they can boost nutrition in the soil. That’s why we would love for you to
