Awaken acts to transform our community with the ultimate goal of eradicating commercial sexual exploitation. We aim for victims of commercial sexual exploitation to be restored to their fullest potential. Awaken aims to accomplish its mission and vision through three areas: Prevention, Restoration, and City Transformation.

While displaced, they were without necessary resources.

✨ So Awaken partnered with Katie Grace Foundation to provide food, cleaning supplies, hygiene products, and other essentials.

A Watershed Moment for Kids Online 💙

A major step forward for children and families: Meta has agreed to a $17 billion settlement and additional child-safety measures for Facebook and Instagram following lawsuits brought by 47+ state attorneys general.

The new measures include stronger parental controls, daily time limits, break reminders, school-day notification restrictions, Night Mode, and the ability to disable algorithmic feeds and autoplay.

But the work isn’t finished.

Children still need stronger protections from harmful algorithms, online predators, and platforms designed to keep them engaged. Real change will require prioritizing children's safety, lawmakers strengthening protections, and parents staying informed and involved.

They were so great with our girls and even had a cooler full of water and snacks prepped for them.

There’s one state in America where you can still legally buy a woman’s body. 🚫

Not “used to.” Not “in some countries.” Right now, in 2026, in the United States.

It’s Nevada. 🏔️ 🎰🏙️

And it traces back to a single vote in 1971, when a Storey County commission legalized a brothel to dodge a nuisance lawsuit. That one decision became the blueprint every legal brothel in America still operates under today.

Fifty-plus years later, we’re still living inside a loophole.

Here’s what most people don’t realize: this isn’t ancient history contained to a few dusty ranches in the desert. Nevada law allows any county under 700,000 people to license brothels, and Washoe County qualifies. That means your county commissioner could vote to legalize brothels here. Most voters have no idea that’s even on the table.

So what does “regulated” actually mean for the women inside?

We asked. 81% wanted out. 57% were s*xually abused as children. 50% had pimps. 47% had been homeless. That’s not a system that protects women. That’s exploitation with a permit and a paper trail.

“Legal” doesn’t mean safe. “Regulated” doesn’t mean free from exploitation. And survivor stories aren’t fiction, they’re someone’s life.

This isn’t partisan. It’s not even really about politics. It’s about whether Nevada keeps being the last state standing on a system that never should have survived this long. And it’s about whether the people we elect actually know where they stand.

Ask every candidate these two questions before you vote:
1️⃣ Do you support the legalization of prostitution in Nevada?
2️⃣ Would you support the legalization or licensing of brothels in Washoe County?

Ask the questions. Demand clarity. Vote like it matters. Because it does.
