Remember yesterday’s behind-the-scenes look? The final phase is officially in the books! 🎉
A massive shoutout to the amazing Atrium Health Floyd Macon and Charlotte, NC, team members! They rolled up their sleeves to install the final stage of the Unity Point project: anti-graffiti coating, and it looks fantastic! ✨
Honestly, we might not even need that coating because the numbers don’t lie. Since these murals went up, we’ve seen zero graffiti in the area. When a community paints together, behavior changes:
📉 60% Drop in Vandalism: Community-led murals reduce illegal tagging and littering by up to 60% (Center for Active Design). Blank walls feel consequence-free; local art demands respect.
🚶♀️ 84% Boost in Walkability: 84% of residents feel safer and are more likely to walk through urban areas featuring public art (Americans for the Arts).
❤️ 74% Increase in Community Pride: 74% of citizens say public art gives them a deeper sense of belonging.
At KRFB, our goal is to cultivate a strong sense of ownership. We can’t expect citizens to care for an environment they don't feel connected to. When volunteers help paint our city walls, they put down roots—and they fiercely protect the neighborhood they helped create.
Thank you to our incredible volunteers! Come check out the finished masterpiece at Unity Point! 👇📸
