Today, our Pre-K students worked on strengthening their little fingers and building the fine-motor skills they’ll need for writing! ✏️

Using Q-tips as their “erasers,” they practiced erasing lines, slants, and curves. This fun activity helped them strengthen their finger muscles while also practicing how to properly hold and control a writing tool.

They had so much fun—and were getting some great writing practice along the way! 💕

A long weekend is coming up! 📅

A reminder that Monday, September 7 is a student and staff holiday. Our campus, along with all NEISD campuses and District offices, will be closed.

We hope our students, staff and families enjoy the extra day off! Rest, recharge and have some fun—we’ll see everyone back at school on Tuesday! 😁

Starting this week in PreK, we will begin learning all about colors! 🎨 Each day, we will focus on a different color through fun and engaging activities.

We are inviting everyone to join in on the fun by wearing something in the color of the day! Let’s show our PreK littles how much fun learning can be!

🎨 Color Days:

❤️ Monday, August 24: Red
🧡 Tuesday, August 25: Orange
💛 Wednesday, August 26: Yellow
💚 Thursday, August 27: Green
💙 Friday, August 28: Blue
💜 Monday, August 31: Purple
🩷 Tuesday, September 1: Pink
🤍 Wednesday, September 2: White
🖤 Thursday, September 3: Black
🤎🩶 Friday, September 4: Brown/Gray

We can’t wait to see everyone bring a little extra color to Royal Ridge!

Today, Ms. Hughes’ class had an exciting surprise! Ms. Duran’s 2nd grade class visited one of the innovative MoonShot classrooms. We are not sure who had more fun, the students or Ms. Duran! The 3rd grade students had the privilege of giving the second graders a tour of our classroom. They even taught them how to write on the walls and screens! We believe our 3rd grade students thoroughly enjoyed being mentors. Here’s a glimpse of the wonderful experience.

As students return to campus, families are reminded that cellphones and other personal communication devices must be turned off and stored out of sight for the entire school day in accordance with NEISD policy.

We know this may be an adjustment for some students, and we appreciate our families working with us to start the year off strong and help students stay focused on learning!

Read the full letter from our principal at royalridge.neisd.net/cellphone for additional information about the policy, exemptions and consequences for violations.
