**PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT**

The Shelton Police Department Detective Bureau is actively investigating a series of recent vehicle break-ins that have occurred in the Huntington area of Shelton earlier this morning.

Pictured are a suspect believed to be involved in these incidents and a newer model Gray Acura MDX. Detectives believe the vehicle was occupied by four individuals at the time of the offenses. The suspects are believed to be armed with a firearm.

If you observe this vehicle or its occupants, do not approach them. Call 911 immediately.

Residents and businesses in the Huntington area are encouraged to review any available surveillance footage and report any information that may assist Detectives. Anyone with video footage, evidence, or information related to these incidents is asked to contact Detective Franco of the Shelton Police Department Detective Bureau at (203) 924-1544 ext. 4488.

Today marks two years since Connecticut State Police Trooper Aaron Pelletier was tragically killed in the line of duty.

Trooper Pelletier’s sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face each day in service to their communities.

We honor his life, his service, and his unwavering commitment to protecting others. Our thoughts remain with his family, loved ones, and the men and women of the Connecticut State Police.

**NEWS RELEASE: ARREST MADE IN SHELTON LARCENY INVESTIGATION**

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Shelton Police Detective Bureau
Date: May 29, 2026

On April 30, 2026, Shelton Police responded to CAVA on Bridgeport Avenue for a reported larceny involving a stolen laptop.

The investigation was assigned to the Shelton Police Detective Bureau, with Detective John McMahon serving as the case officer. Through investigative efforts, Anthony Martinez, age 39 of Hamden, was identified as the suspect and an arrest warrant was authorized.

On May 28, 2026, with assistance from the Hamden Police Department, Martinez was located and taken into custody without incident.

Martinez was charged with C.G.S. 53a-125 – Larceny 4th Degree, issued a $10,000 bond, and provided a court date at GA-5 in Derby.
