Waldens Ridge Emergency Service Waldens Ridge Emergency Services (WRES) provides fire, rescue and EMS services to the Walden community. WRES is a non-profit, completely volunteer department.

Waldens Ridge Emergency Service, Inc. is an all-volunteer department consisting of 55 non-paid members with two stations supporting a mountainous district of 33 square miles. We are located on Signal Mountain in Hamilton County, Tennessee. Our two stations are at 2100 Taft Highway in the Town of Walden and 7339 Sawyer Pike in an unincorporated area. We may also be requested to respond to calls in

the Town of Signal Mountain, the Lone Oak Community of Signal Mountain, the City of Red Bank, or others. Through the Tri-State Mutual Aid Association, we are linked to almost 40 other departments in Southeast Tennessee, Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama and may be called to help any of them at any given time.

WRES joins Tennessee and the rest of the world with a heavy heart due to the passing of Dolly Parton. Not only was Dolly an entertainer and actress, but she was also a philanthropist, always stepping up to support the people of East Tennessee. Make no mistake, Tuesday Tennessee lost a treasure. As we keep Dolly‘s family in our thoughts and prayers, we know that one of the best things about East Tennessee is gone. Through her actions, quick wit, and pure kindness, Dolly was mountain strong. Dolly Parton always lived life with no regrets. She always remembered where she came from and always took the opportunity to pay her success forward. God speed and thank you for leaving Tennessee better! As many have said since learning of her passing, Dolly, we will always love you!

For over 40 years, Jimmy Hillis has been that steady, reassuring voice guiding countless first responders. Whether it was a single emergency or a major, large-scale event in Hamilton County, his calm dispatching gave fire, EMS, and police unwavering confidence. With Jimmy on the radio, no one ever worried about a thing being overlooked—he was always in tune, always reliable. That calm, steady presence meant more than words can express. While Jimmy will continue leading us here as Chief of Waldens Ridge Emergency Service, we are honored to congratulate him on his retirement from Hamilton County 911 Emergency Communications District. Jimmy, your legacy of care will echo far beyond the radio. Congratulations, Chief! Enjoy this well-earned next chapter!

You may have heard the rumble of a UH-60 Black Hawk overhead today! Waldens Ridge Emergency Service crew joined Signal Mountain Fire Department and Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue Service in a joint training with the Tennessee Air National Guard’s Smoky 1 crew. Yesterday, we gathered for a heartfelt reunion celebrating Waldens Ridge Emergency Service’s 50th Anniversary! We saw old friends, shared stories, and enjoyed some fantastic food.
