At their meeting on Wednesday, June 24th the Soldotna City Council passed two commending resolutions. One recognizes the Soldotna High School Boys Soccer Team as the Division II State Champions for 2026. The Stars defeated the Ketchikan Kings in the championship game on May 30th to clinch the state title.

The second resolution is in memoriam, honoring James Albert Stogsdill Jr. for his exemplary public service and dedicated career in Alaska. Mr. Stogsdill served as a Sergeant for the Alaska State Troopers, renowned for his calm professionalism, investigative skill, and persistence in challenging cases. Following his retirement from the Troopers, he served on the Soldotna City Council, as well as on the board of the Kenai Watershed Forum and the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce. The resolution recognized Mr. Stogsdill, who passed away at the age of 79, as an exceptional community leader and public servant.
