πŸŽ‰Happy Juneteenth!β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ’š

Today, Washington County Schools joins communities across the nation in recognizing Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, and progress. ✨

πŸ“œ Observed annually on June 19, Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed by President Abraham Lincoln.

🀝 As we recognize this important day in our nation’s history, we reflect on the values of freedom, equality, and opportunity for all. Through education, understanding, and respect, we can continue building stronger communities for future generations.

❀️ Freedom. πŸ’› Hope. πŸ’š Unity.
