🐢🎉 Congratulations to our May Greene Goosechase winners, Turtle and The Final Goosening!

This month's theme was Soil Health and our participants got their hands dirty exploring soil, compost, and the messy magic that helps everything grow. 🌱🪱

As we wrap up our final month of Greene GooseChase, we want to send a huge thank you to everyone who participated throughout the season. Your creativity, enthusiasm, and commitment to learning about sustainability made this program a success. We hope you had as much fun completing missions as we had creating them!

Stay curious, keep growing, and thanks for playing along with us. 💚 Stay tuned for our announcement of the overall Greene Goosechase winner!

Springfield got lots of rain over the weekend! ⛈️
Our team tracks rainfall at multiple monitoring locations to see how wet weather affects the sanitary sewer system.

Why does this matter if we have a separate sewer and stormwater system?

➡ Infiltration occurs when groundwater enters the sewer system through cracks in private laterals, faulty connections or other openings.

➡ Inflow occurs when surface water such as storm water enters the sewer system through roof downspout connections, holes in manhole covers, illegal plumbing connections, or defects.

This rain data helps us better understand inflow and infiltration patterns and how they may impact operations at our wastewater treatment plants.
