👏👏 ACPA is honored to recognize the recipients of the 2026 Distinguished Service Awards, celebrating individuals and organizations whose leadership, innovation, and dedication continue to advance the concrete pavement industry.

This year’s honorees include Dale Harrington (posthumously), recipient of the Hartmann-Hirschman-Egan Award; Sarah Bazey, Harold Halm Presidential Award; Emery Sapp & Sons, Resilient/Sustainable Practices Recognition Award; Dr. Thomas J. Van Dam, Knutson-Voigt Award for Technical Achievement; Greg Dean, Outstanding Pavement Promotion Award; and Cece Schenk, Emerging Leader of the Year.

Kansas schools will celebrate Walk and Roll to School Day on Oct. with support from Kansas Active Transportation Safe Routes to School Program!

This annual event promotes safe behaviors and community connection by encouraging students and families to walk, bike and/or roll to school.

Mr. Bones is demonstrating why chest clip placement matters.

On the left, his chest clip is too low. On the right, it’s at armpit level, where it belongs.

A low chest clip can allow harness straps to slip off a child’s shoulders, potentially allowing them to come partly or completely out of the seat during a crash. A clip resting over the belly can also put force on the soft abdomen, potentially causing serious injury.

Being buckled is step one. Being buckled correctly matters just as much.

Check the chest clip, straighten any twisted straps, and tighten the harness until you can’t pinch extra strap material at the shoulder. Always follow your car seat’s instructions.
