Itā€™s common sense that taxpayer dollars should be used to support those who need assistanceā€”not sent overseas.

Thatā€™s why I introduced the No American Benefits Abroad Act, which would prohibit welfare recipients from transferring taxpayer-funded benefits abroad.

Americans expect welfare programs to serve their intended purpose: helping those in need here at home, not funding transfers overseas.

The challenge begins today and runs through September 4, 2026. This is a great opportunity for students across Iowaā€™s 4th District to read 12 books, earn a certificate, receive an America 250-themed bookmark, and be entered for a chance to visit our nationā€™s capital.

I encourage all eligible students to participate and make reading part of their summer.

It is always a privilege to honor brave Iowans as they reunite with their families after months of service overseas. We are grateful for their sacrifice and dedication to our nation. Please join me in welcoming them home and thanking them for their service.
