Waterville is a city of 15,900, located in Kennebec County, 52 miles south of Bangor and 80 miles north of Portland. Professional and related services, together with wholesale and retail trade are the major employing groups. Waterville is the location of Colby College, Thomas College, and medical facilities serving central Maine.

Beginning on June 22nd, students are eligible for free Breakfast and Lunch during the summer months. Meals will be offered Monday through Friday, however, additional meals will be given on Friday to cover the weekend. See the attached flyer for information about locations and pick up times. Please help spread the word!

We are so incredibly proud of our girls tennis team and their coaches! They are the Class B Girls Tennis State Runners-Up. The team lost a hard fought state championship match to Cape Elizabeth, 2-3. What a great season! Congratulations to all!

Congratulations to the Girls Tennis team for winning the Class B North Championship! The Panthers defeated Presque Isle 3-2. They will face Cape Elizabeth in the State Championship on Wednesday, June 10 at 430pm at Bates College.

Samuel Withers is graduating first in the WSHS Class of 2026 with an unweighted GPA of 98.056. He serves as Co-President of the Green Team and Captain of the Cross Country team, and also participates in track, swimming, Science Olympiad, and the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Samuel has earned Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) honors, is a National Merit Finalist, a Presidential Scholar Candidate, and an AP Scholar with Honor. Outside of school, he has gained valuable experience working at the Colby College Museum of Art. He is also committed to service, contributing as a youth organizer with Just ME for Just US and as a member of the Waterville Youth Council. Samuel plans to attend Brown University to study mechanical engineering. He is the son of Julianne Gilland of Waterville, Maine.

Leah Zeimetz is graduating second in the WSHS Class of 2026 with an unweighted GPA of 98.027. She serves as Vice President of the Green Team, President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and Class President, and is a member of the National Honor Society and National French Honor Society. Leah is also a student representative to the Waterville School Board. She participates in Capital Strings and the Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra, and is a captain of the cross country team and a member of the track and field team. Leah was selected for the All-State Honors Orchestra and All-Eastern Honors Orchestra, and has received the Kennebec Valley Honors Orchestra recognition, a Renaissance Award, the Princeton University Book Award, the Dartmouth College Book Award, and the University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Science Award. She volunteers as a childcare helper and musician at First Church of Waterville, an assistant teacher for the ASHS Science Club, a violin practice partner at the Suzuki Institute, and a poll worker on election day. Leah works as a busser at Amici’s Cucina. She plans to attend Bowdoin College to study biochemistry with a minor in the humanities. She is the daughter of Meghan and Paul Shea of Waterville, Maine.

Taylor Amuso is graduating third in the WSHS Class of 2026 with an unweighted GPA of 97.626. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Green Team, Waterville Youth Council, Waterville School Board Student Representative, Student Council, Upward Bound, and Tennis team. Taylor received a Certificate of Achievement in Health Award, a Worcester Polytechnic Institute Innovation Award, Smith College Book Award, a Renaissance Award , and a Maine Volunteer Roll of Honor Award. Taylor works for the City of Waterville Parks and Rec. and Governor’s Restaurant. She volunteers at Brookside Elementary School and as a poll worker on election day. Taylor plans to attend Bowdoin College to study biology. She resides in Waterville, Maine and is the daughter of Heather Bailey and Dan Amuso.

Mandy Zhang is graduating fourth in the WSHS Class of 2026 with an unweighted GPA of 97.327. She is a member of the Civil Rights Team (Leader), Yearbook (Editor), Key Club (Secretary), Varsity Fall Cheer, Girls JV + Varsity Boys Basketball Statistician, JMG Leadership Team, Green Team, Cohen Leadership Program, Sources of Strength, Homeroom Buddies, Spanish Club, Prom Committee, Class Officers, and Student Ambassadors. Mandy won a Renaissance Award for Volunteer/Service, Good School Citizen & Academics, a KVAC All Academic Cheer Recognition, a MAINE Youth Volunteer Roll of Honor, RIT Humanities and Social Sciences Award, National First-Generation Recognition Award, Certificate of Leadership in Civil Rights, ShineOnCass Junior Service Award, Questbridge College Prep Scholar Honor, CollegeBoard AP Scholar, UMaine Emerging Leader Award, and a Certificate of Achievement in Health. She works at Camp Tracy and her family's restaurant. Mandy completed community service through Camp Tracy, Key Club, Green Team, Waterville Senior Homes, Luv Michael Volunteer Program, JMG, Red Cross, and at Brookside Elementary School as a classroom helper. She plans to attend Colby College to study law and government. Mandy is the daughter of Sandy and Andy Liu of Waterville, Maine.
