UPDATE: The Repair Café will be from 9-11am, not 10-Noon. Apologies for the mistake!

🧵 Are you handy with a needle and thread? We need your help!

We’re hosting a Repair Café at Waverly Public Library on Saturday, November 14th from 9-11am, and we’re looking for volunteer fixers.

What’s a Repair Café? It’s a free gathering where neighbors help neighbors mend broken items instead of throwing them away.

No professional tailoring experience required! If you know how to sew on a button, patch a pair of jeans, or fix a loose seam, you have all the skills needed. The Library will provide basic thread and needles. You may bring your favorite sewing kit or machine! Coffee will be provided for volunteers.

Want to spend two hours helping your community and meeting fellow crafters? Contact Trevor at WPL by messaging the Library’s social media, calling 319-352-1223, or emailing [email protected] by Thursday, November 12th.

Are you an adult who's interested in playing Dungeons and Dragons (or any tabletop roleplaying game), but you don't have a group to play with? Now's your chance! We'll provide the space, plus books and dice (or you can bring your own).

Join us at the library from 5:30 - 7:30 today!

This week is Friends of the Library week! We are so incredibly thankful for all that our Friends organization does to support our library and its programs.

Through proceeds from used book sales and the donations of their members, the Friends helped us host over 800 programs last year with a total of 23,000+ attendees. What an incredible impact for our local community!

Memberships are currently open. If you would like to learn more, click the link below

Thank you for the screams! We had such a fun time turning the library into a haunted house for two nights! Thanks to everyone who was brave enough to come walk through!

👻💀🎃😱

And we couldn’t do it without the volunteer actors that came both nights and helped set up and clean up! It’s a big undertaking for the weekend, so we appreciate you!

1,000 stories, countless bedtime snuggles, and one massive MILEStone! 📚🎉

Join us in celebrating Miles and his parents for completing the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge!

Reading together in the early years is about far more than just finishing pages—it’s building the foundation for a lifetime of learning. By making reading a daily habit, his parents and caregivers have gifted him an expanded vocabulary, deeper empathy, stronger focus, and the confidence to walk into kindergarten in a few years ready to thrive. Research shows that early exposure to books is one of the single biggest predictors of later academic success.

Miles, we can’t wait to see where your love of reading takes you next!

Ready to give your little one the same head start?! Stop by the WPL Youth Desk or comment below to get your child(ren) started on the 1KB4K program.
