Several members of our Court Administration staff attended the Florida Court Personnel (FCP) Institute this week in Kissimmee, FL, hosted by Florida Courts.

During the conference, various role-specific tracks were offered, including for law clerks, interpreters, judicial and general magistrate assistants, juvenile drug court case managers, managers/supervisors and new employees.

Our staff had the opportunity to participate in valuable professional development opportunities, as well as connect and network with other court professionals.

LAW LIBRARY RENOVATIONS TO BEGIN

The Main Courthouse Law Library (Judge Edward Rodgers Law Library) will close on September 8, 2026, for major renovations. The reopening date is currently unknown. Beginning Monday, September 14, 2026, a temporary library kiosk with access to Westlaw, along with a limited selection of research materials, will be available on the sixth floor of the Main Courthouse, near the Mediation Office.

The North County Law Library, located in the Courthouse at 3188 PGA Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens, and the South County Law Library, located in the South County Courthouse at 200 W. Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach, will remain open during this time, with regular hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we undertake this major construction project.

On Friday, August 21, Judges Carolyn Bell, Dane Leitner, Darren Shull and Lisa Small spoke to a group of practicing attorneys during the Palm Beach County Bar Association’s CourtCounsel event on Friday, August 21.

The monthly event is an opportunity for attorneys to discuss various topics directly with judges in an informal setting.

A {paw}fect way to end the week 🐾

This morning, the therapy dogs paid a visit to the main courthouse where Circuit and Clerk employees had the chance to pet and interact with them.

These visits are a regular offering from the Circuit’s Health & Wellness Committee, which aims to provide activities and informative resources to employees in hopes to encourage wellness and positive mental health.

This morning, the Honorable Bradley Harper administered the oath to Shannon Ramsey-Chessman who has been appointed to serve as Clerk Ad Interim.

Shannon Ramsey-Chessman, CPA, CGFO was sworn in this morning as our office's Ad Interim Clerk by 15th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida Judge Bradley Harper.

Ramsey-Chessman previously served as Chief of Staff, Chief Deputy Clerk, and Chief Information Officer for the Palm Beach County Clerk and Comptroller’s Office. Over her tenure, she has held a number of key leadership roles, including Budget Manager, Finance Director, and Chief Operating Officer of Finance.

Congratulations to the Honorable Cymonie Rowe who was sworn in by Florida Supreme Court Justice John Couriel, to become the Chair-Elect of the Florida Conference of Circuit Judges during this year’s annual conference.

Judge Rowe has been an active member of the conference since 2019 and since then, as part of the Executive Committee has served on the Conference Committee; as Co-Chair of the New Judges Committee; Fourth DCA Representative; on the Financial Accountability Committee and as Secretary.

Judge Rowe will serve as Chair-Elect for two years.

Last Friday, our Circuit said farewell to the summer judicial interns and law clerks with a special luncheon. The luncheon included remarks from Chief Judge Glenn Kelley, as well as program coordinators Judge Samantha Schosberg Feuer, Judge Sherri Collins and General Counsel Ashlyn Darden, and a few of the judges who served as mentors.

The interns and law clerks provided feedback on their experience and how the program has impacted their career aspirations in the legal industry and all received a certificate acknowledging their participation in the program.

We look forward to seeing all they will accomplish in the future!

Yesterday morning, Chief Judge Glenn Kelley welcomed County Commissioner Bobby Powell and members of the Criminal Justice Commission for a tour of the criminal justice process.

Participants observed Circuit Criminal proceedings in Judge Willis’ courtroom; then observed County Criminal proceedings in Judge Zuckerman’s courtroom; and finally, observed Judge Kroll’s Juvenile Shelter and Detention hearings.

Several members of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit attended the All Rise Conference held in Nashville, TN July 20-23.

RISE is the only national conference for treatment court professionals and works to help justice-involved people who are impacted by substance use, mental health and more.
