Mild conditions are expected tonight and tomorrow with overnight lows only falling into the 50s and lower 60s. Afternoon highs on Thursday will soar into the 70s and lower 80s.

On this date back in 1925, the temperature in Wichita fell to 19 degrees. This is the earliest a temperature in the teens has ever been recorded for the city.

Shower and storm chances will increase on Friday and last through at least Saturday morning, with gradual clearing expected Saturday evening. Temperatures will be near or slightly above normal for this time of year.

Scattered to numerous showers will continue moving northeast into the region this evening and tonight, mainly west of the Kansas Turnpike. Localized amounts up to around one-quarter inch are possible.

Rain chances will continue across central and eastern Kansas Tuesday, especially in the morning. Additional rainfall amounts should remain fairly light.

On this date back in 2020, much of the region was dealing with a rare October winter storm. Much of south central Kansas received 1 to 2 inches of snow with parts of Elk, Cowley, Chautauqua and Montgomery counties seeing ice accumulation that caused tree damage.

The 1.6 inches of snow Wichita received on the 26th and 27th resulted in the 2nd snowiest October for Wichita.
