Did you know today is World Dracula Day? 🧛‍♂️

It was created to mark the anniversary of the first publication of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, which took place on May 26th 1897. Established by the Whitby Dracula Society, the day commemorates the gothic culture, vampire folklore, and the iconic English coastal town that inspired it.

Dementia Action Week 18-24 May

'Dementia Action Week is an awareness campaign led by Alzheimer’s Society, bringing people and organisations together to act on dementia.

This year, we're encouraging everyone to join the Forget Me Not Appeal.

Behind each Forget Me Not badge, there are stories of lives devastated by dementia and when we all wear the badge together, it becomes a movement of hope, action and unity.

A visible reminder that it will take a society to beat dementia' Alzheimer's Society

The library's Reading Well for Dementia collection is a list of recommended books chosen by people living with dementia, carers and health professionals.

💜💜 Mental Health Awareness Week takes place from 11–17 May 2026. 💜💜
It encourages people across the UK to talk openly about mental health and support wellbeing in their communities.
This year’s theme is "Action" and reminds us that even small acts of support and kindness can make such a difference. We can take positive steps for ourselves and for others.

We have a great selection of books, both fiction and non-fiction for you to borrow. 🥰
