🚑 Basic First Aid Programme 2026 – Phase One Successfully Completed 🚑
We are pleased to announce the successful completion of Phase One of its 2026 Basic First Aid Programme, which commenced on May 18, 2026, and culminated on June 8, 2026.
This initiative builds upon the foundation established through our pilot programme conducted in March and April 2025 in the constituencies of Gros-Islet and Micoud. Following the positive impact and feedback received from that pilot, the decision was made to expand the programme to ensure that every constituency had the opportunity to benefit from this important public education initiative.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all participants who dedicated their time and effort to acquiring the knowledge and practical skills necessary to provide immediate assistance during emergencies. By equipping members of the public with basic first aid competencies, we are enhancing community preparedness, strengthening national resilience, and empowering citizens to provide potentially life-saving care while awaiting the arrival of emergency personnel.
The objective of this programme was not to focus on any single community or constituency, but rather to ensure that the benefits of first aid education were accessible throughout Saint Lucia. The enthusiasm, commitment, and level of engagement demonstrated by participants have reinforced the importance of continuing and expanding this initiative.
We are pleased to advise that this represents only the first phase of the programme. Plans are already underway for Phase Two, through which the Saint Lucia Fire Service will continue its efforts to reach and empower even more communities across the island.
We would also like to thank all participants who completed our programme surveys. Every submission was carefully reviewed and will be utilized to inform future planning and continuous improvement efforts, ensuring that subsequent programmes are even more impactful, effective, and responsive to the needs of the public.
The Saint Lucia Fire Service wishes to recognize and express its profound gratitude to our lead instructor, Retired Sub Officer Ireneus Henry, whose wealth of knowledge, dedication, and unwavering commitment were instrumental to the programme's success. We further acknowledge the invaluable contributions of his assistant leads, Leading Firefighter Ferdinand Geber and Leading Firefighter Devan Eugene, whose professionalism, expertise, and support helped ensure the successful delivery of training throughout the programme.
📜 Certificates of Participation will be available from July 17, 2026, for all participants who attended BOTH days of the programme. Certificates may be collected at a fire station within the participant's constituency.
The Saint Lucia Fire Service remains committed to building safer, stronger, and more resilient communities through public education, training, and community engagement. Through initiatives such as these, we continue to empower citizens with the knowledge and skills necessary to save lives and make a meaningful difference during emergencies.
