Today marks 106 years since the ratification of the 19th Amendment, a historic step for women’s suffrage.

The generation who fought for suffrage expanded the promise of our democracy. As voting rights face renewed threats, we honor their legacy by continuing the work of protecting that promise and building a more equitable Maine.

The Executive Order signed yesterday by President Trump puts Maine children at greater risk of preventable diseases that can potentially result in lifelong complications.

This session, we passed bills that will protect and expand access to vaccines in Maine – reducing barriers and decoupling Maine’s vaccine policy from federal guidance.

While the federal government works to undermine confidence in public health, we will continue to follow the science and do everything we can to keep our communities healthy.

On August 6, 1965, the Voting Rights Act was signed into law, advancing the promise that every American deserves an equal voice at the ballot box.

61 years later, that promise remains unfinished. As federal voting rights protections continue to be weakened, we remain committed to defending every Mainer’s right to vote and ensuring that our democracy is accessible, fair, and inclusive for all.

Last week, a new law took effect that will help mobile homeowners in Maine save money.

The law allows mobile homes to be titled as real estate rather than personal property – giving mobile homeowners a chance to refinance their home with a mortgage that's more affordable.

That could mean saving hundreds of dollars every month and tens of thousands of dollars over the life of the loan.
