As we wait for our flax harvest to dry, let's look at some of the tools that we will be using to turn it into linen.
From a flax brake to hackles to the spinning wheel, with a few more steps in between, these tools were necessary to obtain the fine hair like fibers within the stem and turn them into thread.
Each tool will be explained in more detail as the process continues throughout the year.

Please join us tonight on the lawn behind the Fort as Americans across the globe, including various communities in Maine, will participate in a simultaneous national reading of the Declaration of Independence at 6:00 PM EDT to mark its 250th anniversary. This initiative commemorates the exact day in 1776 when the document was first read in public.
Copies of the Declaration will be handed out to those who need one to follow along. We hope to see you at 6:00 tonight!
