NH Homeland Security and Emergency Management

New Hampshire Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) is the state agency responsible for coordinating the planning for, responding to and recovery from major natural and human-caused disasters. HSEM is part of the New Hampshire Department of Safety and is the state-level equivalent of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Emergencies occur every day and the vast majority of them are handled at the local level by police, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel. HSEM only becomes involved in major disasters where state resources are needed or where the size or duration of the disaster requires a coordinated state response. The purpose of this page is to permit authorized employees of the division to provide the public with information concerning the New Hampshire Homeland Security and Emergency Management’s mission, goals, programs, activities, events, news, stories, photographs, and videos and to disseminate other information and material intended to increase public awareness.
