Please see below for a public statement regarding the Northern Rail Trail in Andover:

The State is aware of the barriers currently affecting public access to a section of the Northern Rail Trail in Andover between Bridge Road and Cilleyville Road. We understand how disappointing and inconvenient this is for the many people who utilize the trail.

At this time, the State considers this section of the trail temporarily closed and respectfully asks for the public’s cooperation in avoiding the area. There is currently no State-approved detour available around the impacted section of trail.

State agencies continue to review the situation, including questions related to property interests, and are evaluating appropriate legal and administrative options to help address the matter. While the closure may remain in place for some time, a specific timeline is not currently available.

The remainder of the Northern Rail Trail remains open and accessible to the public. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as efforts continue toward a resolution.

In the south part of the state we are in mud season. The Bureau would like to remind riders that the parking lot for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Hopkinton-Everett Lake OHRV riding area is currently closed. Thank you for your patience as we wait for the ground conditions to improve to open it up for summer 2026.

The OHRV parking lot is currently closed for mud season. This closure is to help prevent large ruts from forming in the parking lot, reducing the need for maintenance before the recreational area re-opens. Keep an eye on our page for more updates.

Trail Notice (Construction): Eversource NH will be performing transmission work on the Presidential Rail Trail and on an adjacent snowmobile trail in Randolph, NH. This work will be taking place March 2nd – 4th and March 9th – 11th, between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm. Eversource will be arranging flaggers at two locations near the main trailhead off Route 2 and also at the crossing of the Pipeline Trail near Pinkham B Road. While no major shutdowns will be required, flaggers will request that folks wait until it is safe to pass through the area between operations. Please follow all instructions of the flaggers and we appreciate your patience as we work with our partners to complete these repairs.
