🚧 Be Alert: Traffic Shift Coming to Watson Road

MoDOT is preparing to shift traffic onto the newly constructed portion of the Gravois Creek bridge on Watson Road shortly after Labor Day. Once traffic is shifted onto the new bridge, the remaining lanes will close so crews can begin replacing the other half of the bridge.

🚶‍♀️🚲 A new pedestrian crossing over Gravois Creek is also expected to open shortly after Labor Day, providing a new connection for pedestrians and bicyclists between the areas on either side of the creek.

Construction schedules are tentative and subject to change. Motorists should expect periodic lane closures, traffic shifts, nighttime work and other construction impacts along Watson Road.

🎉 Crestwood Night Out is just TWO WEEKS away!

On Saturday, September 12, Crestwood Night Out returns to our neighborhoods, bringing neighbors and the City's first responders together for one of our favorite community traditions.

🏘️ Ridgewood Conservation Overlay District: Draft Proposal & Public Hearing

The City of Crestwood has released a draft proposal to establish a Ridgewood Conservation Overlay District, following community feedback gathered through a neighborhood survey and public hearings held June 3, July 1 and Aug. 5.

📄 View the draft ordinance: https://www.cityofcrestwood.org/DocumentCenter/View/5958/Draft-Ordinance---Ridgewood-Overlay-District---0827202838486381

Public Hearing
🕕 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, Crestwood Government Center
🏛️ Planning, Zoning & Architectural Review Commission meeting

During the meeting, City staff will present the draft ordinance and receive additional public input.

The proposed overlay would establish exterior design standards for new homes and certain larger exterior construction projects within Ridgewood. The goal is to help preserve the neighborhood’s distinctive Mid-Century Modern character while allowing homeowners to continue investing in and improving their properties.

If the Planning, Zoning & Architectural Review Commission recommends moving the proposal forward, it would then go to the Board of Aldermen for consideration through a separate public hearing process. Ridgewood property owners will be notified by mail before the Board begins its public hearing and public comment period.

🚧 Sanders Park Expansion Update

The Sanders Park Expansion Project is moving into its next phase. Asbestos abatement is complete at the two remaining properties, 963 and 967 Sanders Drive, and the City has received approval from utility companies to proceed with demolition.

Crews are expected to mobilize by the end of September to remove the two remaining homes. A portion of the demolition cost is being funded through a grant from the St. Louis County Municipal Park Grant Commission.

Once demolition is complete, all five properties included in the expansion will be graded and seeded before being incorporated into Sanders Park as additional public green space.

Thank you to nearby residents and park visitors for your patience as this work continues. 🌳

🌟 Celebrating Women’s Leadership in Crestwood 🌟

Each year on Aug. 26, Women’s Equality Day commemorates the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920 and celebrates the continued advancement of women in civic life.

On June 23, 2026, Crestwood reached a milestone of its own: for the first time in City history, three women are serving simultaneously on the Board of Aldermen.

Ward 2 Alderperson Rebecca Now, Ward 2 Alderperson Kitty Nangle Lohrum and Ward 4 Alderwoman Megan Gadallah each bring unique experiences and perspectives to public service.

Their service builds on a long history of women in Crestwood leadership, including Audrey A. Walsh, Crestwood’s first female alderperson, and Patricia A. Killorn, Crestwood’s first female mayor and longest-serving mayor.

Together, these women represent different backgrounds, professions and experiences while sharing a common commitment to serving the Crestwood community.
