After 33 years with Chesapeake Utilities, Shane Breakie, vice president, sustainability and organic growth, is beginning a well-earned next chapter: retirement.

Since joining the Company in 1993 as an entry-level accountant, Shane has built a career defined by growth, leadership and service. Over the years, he held roles across accounting, customer service, operations, energy services, sustainability and organic growth — gaining a broad understanding of our business and helping advance initiatives that strengthened our Company, supported our customers and positioned Chesapeake Utilities for the future.

Shane's impact can be seen in the projects he helped lead, the communities he helped serve and the many employees he mentored, encouraged and supported along the way. His leadership has reflected a deep commitment to collaboration, continuous learning and giving back.

Thank you, Shane, for your decades of dedication and many contributions to Chesapeake Utilities. We wish you and your family all the best as you begin this exciting new chapter.

Before you dig, make the free call to 811. It helps safely protect you, your neighbors and the underground utility lines that keep our communities connected. Wait for affected utilities to respond and mark their facilities before breaking ground. Then use extra caution when digging!

Meet Kendall Chin, a University of Delaware senior who spent the summer gaining hands-on experience with Chesapeake Utilities’ corporate governance team. From supporting board director onboarding improvements to learning more about the energy industry, Kendall found opportunities to grow, build relationships and see our values in action.

“You can see the Company's values in action every day,” Kendall said. “Whether it’s volunteering, employee resource groups or the way people support each other, you can tell the Company genuinely cares about creating a strong community.”

Members of the Florida Public Utilities External Affairs and Operations team from Winter Haven and DeBary were proud to attend and sponsor the 1st Annual Future Farmers of America (FFA) Auction & Dinner in Auburndale, Florida.

It was incredible to see such a strong community turnout in support of these outstanding young men and women. Through FFA, students develop leadership skills while competing in agricultural programs and events at the local, regional, state, and national levels.

Events like this remind us what can happen when a community comes together to invest in the next generation. Florida Public Utilities is proud to support organizations like FFA and the young leaders who will help shape the future of our communities.
