Winter vacation is over and it’s back to school. That means that parents may need a refresher on their child’s diabetes management plan. The CDC has a great resource on how you can speak to your child’s teachers to make sure they have a safe and successful remaining school year.

Don’t kick it old school when it comes to diabetes care—here’s why you should update your child’s medical management plan every year.

When reflecting on Dennis, Meg Stirk, President and CEO, said, “It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis, our friend, Board Member, and longtime supporter. Go to peopleincfr.org/donate/ and click on “2020 Giving Tree."
One of the holiday traditions at People Incorporated is the “Giving Tree.” Each year employees, our board, and community members would go to a tree set up at one of our sites and take an ornament that matched a child in our programs and then purchase a gift to be distributed to the families. This year, we cannot host the Giving Tree in the usual manner due to the pandemic, so we plan to support these deserving children through a virtual version of the Giving Tree. Will you help a child this year?
The Giving Tree allows us to reach those who need us most, especially during a uniquely difficult year. Thank you!
Today and every day, we are grateful for veterans, including our current and former military staff. Thank you for your service!

We recognize the prevalence of diabetes in our local community and on a national level. According to the American Diabetes Association, 1.25 million Americans have type 1 diabetes and 40,000 people will be diagnosed this year.
Type 2 diabetes is even more common. To help you understand your risk for type 2 diabetes, the American Diabetes Association has created a risk assessment quiz. Visit the link and complete the quiz to better understand your risk for type 2 diabetes: https://www.diabetes.org/risk-test
