Goats will eat anything… right? 👀🐐
Not quite. Even a hungry herd has favorites, and a few plants it would rather walk past.

Last week, goats spent two days grazing part of the BRIT Prairie to help us trim it back. Now our researchers at BRIT, the Garden’s research and conservation institute, are reviewing timelapse footage from their visit to see which plants the goats and sheep loved and which ones they avoided.

Those answers help the contractors who bring the goats plan their next visit. Certain areas of the Garden may need more animals or tighter fencing in a smaller area to encourage the goats to eat a wider variety of plants.

Turns out a goat’s lunch makes pretty good data 🌾😋

That’s a wrap on the FWBG Family Fun Run! 🏃‍♀️🌱
Thank you to every runner, walker, stroller-pusher, and bandana-wearing pup who joined us for the FWBG Family Fun Run. Every registration supports the Baker Martin Family Garden, a two-acre space where kids can splash in a creek, peer into a Texas pond, and discover nature up close.

The Family Garden is getting close to its own finish line, and you can still be part of it! Every gift helps finish what’s left to build, from the interactive creek to the Discovery Center 🌼
